Maroochydore Swans LED Lighting Upgrade

Scope of Works

Bailey and Dalton Electrical in partnership with MUSCO Lighting provided the design and installation of a complete LED sports field lighting retrofit for Maroochydore Soccer Club across six playing fields increasing minimum Lux levels to 150 Lux with 0.6 uniformity. The project involved the removal of existing lighting control enclosures and all existing luminaires from lighting towers.

The supply and installation of:

  • 52 Total Light Control (TLC-LED-1200) luminaires
  • 16 new factory-assembled crossarms
  • 16 electrical component enclosures
  • 1 dimming control module

Onsite Works:
  • Works included replacement of existing wiring harnesses, termination of all new LED circuits and installation of dimming control module.
  • Crane and EWP-assisted removal and installation of pole-top equipment.
  • Final aiming, commissioning, and Lux testing to verify compliance with design parameters
  • Sustainable disposal and recycling of all redundant equipment.

Our Role and Approach

      Key Challenges & Solutions
  • Coordinating crane and EWP operations within tight field access and event schedules.
  • Managing wet weather delays to maintain ground integrity near playing surfaces.
  • Ensuring uninterrupted club operations and field access during multi-day installation.
  • Handling and storage logistics for two 40 ft lighting containers and heavy lifting equipment.
  • Achieving precise pole alignment and light aiming to meet 150 Lux uniformity standards.
     Safety & Sustainability
  • Comprehensive SWMS and Site Management Plan implemented for high-risk works.
  • Daily pre-start meetings and risk reviews conducted throughout the project.
  • Controlled exclusion zones and field lockouts ensured public and worker safety.
  • Old lighting equipment and materials recycled in line with environmental practices.
  • Installation of LED technology reduced energy demand and carbon footprint for the club.
     Project Outcomes
  • Successful installation of 52 Musco TLC-LED luminaires across six fields.
  • Achieved verified illumination levels of 150 Lux and uniformity of 0.6.
  • Zero safety incidents or service disruptions during works.
  • Project delivered on time and within budget.
  • Smooth co-ordination with club and neighbouring construction sites for scheduling of project.
  • Project completed with no damage to playing surfaces.
