Maroochydore Bridge LED Lighting Upgrade

Scope of Works

The project involved the full upgrade and refurbishment of all LED lighting along the Maroochydore Boulevard Bridge upgrading the end-of-life lighting infrastructure with new led lighting. Bailey and Dalton partnered with, Innovation Lighting to supply the LED lighting and Miles Plastic to design and manufacture custom weatherproof lighting enclosures. Works included the removal and decommissioning of all existing lighting from the bridge and the supply and installation of:

  • 160m of LED strip lighting
  • 160m custom aluminium powder coated extrusion
  • 60+ custom LED light housings with new internal LED strips

Stake holders such as TMR and Sunshine Coast Council were engaged to secure all relevant permits prior to commencement. Certified traffic management plans were developed and implemented to ensure the safe diversion of vehicles and pedestrians during lane closures and bridge works. Complete rewiring and upgrade all associated electrical wiring and completed full testing and commissioning, to ensure all lighting performance and electrical safety standards were met.

Our Role and Approach

  • Managing night and day shifts to align with approved lane closure permits.
  • Removal and reinstatement of steel guarding panels without damage to the bridge structure.
  • Ensuring accurate alignment and waterproof sealing of new LED lighting.
  • Designing and customising LED enclosures and mounting systems to allow for future serviceability.
     Safety & Sustainability
  • Coordinating works over live traffic areas while maintaining safety and access.
  • Implementing fall protection and netting to eliminate falling object hazards.
  • Certified traffic management plans implemented to safely control vehicle and pedestrian movement during works.
  • All old lighting materials and cabling responsibly disposed of through approved recycling channels.
  • Installation of energy-efficient LED lighting to reduce power consumption and carbon footprint
     Project Outcomes
  • Successful delivery of a modern, high-efficiency, serviceable LED lighting system.
  • Installation of 160 metres of LED strip lighting and 160 metres of custom aluminium extrusion.
  • Successful custom designs providing long term serviceability and lighting protection.
  • Complete rewiring and electrical upgrades tested and certified to AS/NZS electrical standards.
